Ruffner's Luxury Pet Boarding is owned and operated by sister and brother duo, Kim Ruffner and Tom Kosmel. Their love of animals began during childhood, constantly being around the Irish Setters their parents bred. Since then their love for animals have grown insurmountably.
Kim lives with her husband on five acres with her four dogs, and four cats, she has had a love for animals since she was born. Her love of animals inspired her to get her degree in Animal Science as a Veterinary Technician, and to seek a career as a Veterinary Technician where she worked for Dr Cechner in Elburn for seven years. She started doing in-home pet sitting in 1995, and that is when she discovered that there is a great need for all day doggie daycare. With the support of her family she followed her dream and opened Ruffner's Doggie Daycare in Geneva on June 1, 2001. As of June 1, 2009 Kim has sold her Geneva Doggie Daycare to dedicate more time to Ruffner's Luxury Pet Boarding in St. Charles. Kim loves to continue learning and has many certificates. She is a Certified Dog Obedience Instructor, is Certified by the American Boarding Kennel as a Certified Pet Care Technician Level 1 and Level 2, and recently has become a Certified Kennel Operator.
Tom worked at the Village of Bloomingdale for 27 years until his exciting career change with his sister Kim. Tom and Kim opened Ruffner's Luxury Pet Boarding on March 1, 2005. Tom is married and lives on 5 acres with two children, his daughter Kasey is currently enrolled in school at Northern Illinois University, and his son, Kyle, has worked at the Geneva location and is currently working at the St. Charles location.
